Totally and undeniably crazy... Just a little ;)
I just watched the Phantom of the Opera. Awesome. I know the original opera on Broadway was and is probably tons better, but since my pocket has been rather empty of late, i am stuck with the 2004 movie starring Emmy Rossum (The Day after Tomorrow) as Christine Daae, Gerard Butler (Yes, the one who acted in 300, and opposite Angelina Jolie in Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life) as the phantom himself as well as Miranda Richardson (Rita Skeeter in Harry Potter: The Triwizard Tournament) as Madame Giry and Patrick Wilson (the pedophile sexual predator in Hard Candy) as Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny.
I don't know about everyone else, but i find the whole story absolutely fascinatingly creepy and yet romantic. I mean, it's full of convoluted twists and love stories of many kinds. Between Madame Giry and the Phantom, Madame Giry must love the Phantom so much, to protect him for so long, but the Phantom fell in love with Christine, crossing the border between tutor and father to obsessed lover. And of course the Childhood sweethearts Raoul and Christine, who meet again years later, rekindling their love for each other. However, Christine grows to pity the Phantom, putting her in a difficult position, having to choose between Raoul and the Phantom. Ok, getting mushified now. You get the picture.
