Here's a rough timeline of the state of my hair (starting with the most recent):
today
actually it doesn't look half bad in the pics but in reality it looks flat on the top and fuzzy on the bottom.
about mid-year. when i got streaks and layered my hair.
it doesn't look very curly here because i just got back from the salon. my hairdresser blew dried it straight, it was starting to curl up again.
beginning of the year, bistro time
no idea why i look so different here, big eyes and all. so totally unreal.
it kinda looks like i have a hair band on but i wasn't wearing one at that 'mo.
end last year. first perm + prom
refer to last post for comments :]
I think i'm going ahead with the perm. Sorry Trish ;P I've decided to go with a tighter version of Rachelle Lefevre.
I'll probably change my mind again tomorrow.

Hair Raising
So I've been itching to get my hair permed again. Although I had my share of 'hair-raising' moments back when I had my poodle-do (pardon the pun), I still feel this irresistable urge to perm my hair again.
It's been, what, almost a year since I did my hair for last year's prom and my hair's still kinda curly at the ends, though generally flatter and more layered.
Thing is, I'm kinda in a dilemna. Here's why:
1) With the poodle-do, I had to keep my hair up in an up-do almost constantly.
When I let it down it kinda resembled a yield sign.
However I was thinking that cause my hair is slightly longer this time round, and layered, and if I get looser curls, It'll turn out softer and hence will allow me to let down my hair (to frame my fat face and hide my garguntuan shoulders).
2) The reason why my hair's still slightly curled is because I had TIGHT curls to begin with.
That means that if I do get looser curls, it may not last as long. AND I abso-fucking-lutely refuse to wash my hair only once a week. Has anyone smelt stale sweaty hair that's long overdure for a shampoo? I have and it's no fun at all. Trust me.
3) Most Singaporean (mainly chinese, jap, korean etc) girls sport the jap perm
Making the poodle-d0 and the one I want an express ticket to auntie-dom. My hair NOW kinda looks like those jap perms with the soft fringe and wavy hair. Except it's not long (like between shoulder and bra) and i don't have a kawaii fat-less/photoshopped face.
I know I could actually use a curling iron to spruce up my existing curls and be done with it. BUT I'M JUST TOO LAZY TO! I just can't seem to curl my hair as fast as those people do on youtube and I sure as hell ain't gonna spend an additional hour on my hair on top of my moisturising (darned eczema) and make-up (darned flawed face) routines.
That's another reason why I love curly hair. It's so easy to style. It's basically wash, air-dry and fluff with the optional styling product when necessary.
When my hair's straight and I intend to wear it down (and look presentable enough to leave home) I usually have to blow-dry my hair upside down at the roots, brush and blow-dry to prevent fly-a-ways and flipping out.
Anyways, here are some pics I found on the net plus a couple of my own in an attempt to illustrate the kind of perm i want:
As seen in Twilight, that movie/book series by Stephanie Meyers that's taken our primary school girls by storm, and misleadingly brainwashing them about the trials and pains of love, vampires and boys. (More about this later)
She plays Victoria, one of the wild nomadic (normal) vampires and later revealed mate of James, leader of said nomadic group.
Though many have grouses about her hair in the movie, it being not red enough to be mistaken as fire in the water, as mentioned in New Moon (2nd book), nor wild/wacky/unruly enough, I absolutely LOVE IT!
This is my number one choice and christmas would come early for me if my hair could turn out anything like this. However, if it's that loose from the very beginning, it'd probably no last a year.
Le Poodle
Just a review of the poodle-do that so many aspire to have (not).
It's actually quite nice when pulled up/back ala 2nd pic.
In the first one, I'd just come straight back from the salon so I still have the sticky gel on which turns my poodle-do into crispy maggie mee when dry.
I kinda also washed my hair regulary so it softened considerably in the two days before prom.
Since I'm only considering dying my hair with that smoky black reverse hair colour by Gatsby
...(the same one I used before but for various reasons lasted only a day. Now it's a reddish ash brown with faint highlights; you really don't wanna know how i got this. It's a really REALLY long story.)...
here's a pic of shortish black curled hair.
It's actually somewhat similar to last year's poodle-do except the model's edgy beauty totally wipes any thought we have of aunties in wet markets.
Here's one uber tight perm that looks cool. 'Cept my face ain't so long and slender XD
The look I fell in love with after watching
Mamma Mia!
This is one of the best beachy wavy look I've seen but it's surprisingly kinda hard to pull off and usually looks way better on girls with hair at least down to mid-back level.
Well, here you go. I'll probably get the perm done next week when I go to the salon with my mum. Pictures then!
Tata for now.
