YES!!!
The end is near! And not of the
'dooms day' variety either. (That one has the particular honour of coming next year)
Anyway,
break out the champagne! It's time to celebrate! Why? Because Tomorrow is our very last paper!!!
Ok, I've calmed down a little, see I have an explanation for this
temporary bout of insanity (don't i always)
You see, the thing is I have been really ill of late (hmm, like for the whole of yesterday and the good part of this morning?). But don't put on those
black mourners clothes yet, don't buy any wreaths, because I am in the pink of health again! (If you forget about my constant trumpeting, my phlegmy hacking and the new geographical feature called
Mt. Tissue)
Anyway, I have come to blog with a purpose. Yes, you heard me right the first time around,
there is a purpose for my inane blogging for once, and my purpose for today, my sole purpose of diverting my attention away from my precious BIO MCQ, is to share with all of you (who i can count in one hand) who frequent this tiny dust-filled cesspool of a blog, what I've been spending my time doing. (Instead of yeah, 'studying' duh)
Let me begin with my long time companion...
My Books:
They have stuck with me through thick and thin, progressing from The Tales of Peter Rabbit to The Chronicles of Narnia and, yes, to Harry Potter. Of course this avid fascination of mine for all things
fictional (with preferably a foot in
fantasy as well) has led to an
8 year long ban from reading anything besides encyclopedias and textbooks. So where does my book worm nose turn to, Why! The library of course! Where else should little old me turn to for solace and comfort..
I digress. I am here to talk about a book I randomly picked up from my new favourite haunt, the soon to be closed down
Library @ Orchard.
As you can gather from the title, this book is about the undead aka vampires. This is actually the
second book of the series, but do not let that stop you from reading it. The protagonist is one Elizabeth Taylor, nope, not the actress. She goes by the name
Betsy and coupled with her
blond hair and close to
obsessive-compulsive designer shoe fetish, she is your typical Bimbo... Not. She is the
Queen of the undead, or has been for the past couple of months. (I think? I've only read it once, so i can't provide much in depth analysis of the story till i read it a couple more times)
This book is about her dealing with her new found erm 'life' as ruling monarch over all creatures of the night, a fact she's forced to accept when her vampire subjects are being staked. She is helped along by
her best friend, the super rich Jessica, her roommate,
night shift doctor Marc who's gay, a really
senior vamp named Tina (who has a questionable sexual orientation) and of course, the
uber hot vampire king, Sinclair (who tricked her into having sex with him in the previous book so that he would be her consort and hence the King of the undead).
To
add to the fray, she discovers
1. A little girl who mysteriously hangs around her room during the most
unexpected times
2. A group of vigilante teen orphans who have set it upon themselves to rid the world of blood sucker, led by none other than a parish priest and funded by an unknown benefactor. Oh, and have I mentioned that the boy-leader of the group also has a crush on Betsy?
It really is an interesting book to read, the dialogue is witty and the sex kept to a minimum.
